ES043 OMI Software Engineer / Programmer

Design and develop web client user interface for NASA’s Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) operations and science community applications access and execution. Work with operators and scientists to address their user interface needs. Work with other developers to integrate existing web services and extend those services as needed for user interface.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Sciences, MS in Computer Sciences preferred
  • Strong Javascript programming (5+ years)
  • Experience with Javascript frameworks such as Dojo , MochiKit , GoogleGears, Prototype
  • Strong experience in user interface design
  • Programming experience with Perl and RDBMS/SQL (3+ years)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience with JSON/YAML, REST, and Web Services Ability to work closely with other members of the development team and use current best practices such as configuration management, problem tracking, peer reviews
  • Must be US citizen

Desired skills:

  • Apache configuration and AJAX experience is a plus
  • Experience with Postgres or another relational database
  • CVS or SubVersion configuration management experience
  • Test planning and execution
  • Experience working on Linux
  • Experience with developing Satellite data processing and distribution systems
